What is a high amperage switch on the alternator charge line? Surely the alternator regulator governs the charge at the level the battery and the van needs? Or am I being naive? In which case there...

Greg - I would say that your performance is "nominal" over 8 years. The AGM house batteries are not generally lasting much over 4 and at best 6 years. And getting 5 years from your Van battery(s)...
