Yep, just north of Bitter Springs and the turnoff. In this google earth image you can see the road contours a bit around what is a paleo-landslide. Note the scalloped chunk out of the Echo Cliffs...

The easiest thing to do since you'll be going through Kanab would be to just go over the north Rim at Jacob Lake on 89A. It's actually shorter by a few miles. That area is getting some snow atm but...

Check this out. An impressive landslide south of Page, AZ has closed the highway. For those travelling north-south or vice versa you'll want to go through Jacob Lake on the N. Rim.
