Re: My build so far… REconstructing

Heat and heat. Which, may have been the darker color or possibly the fact that the plastidip was flat and didn't reflect anything.

Either way, it was noticeably hotter. My FatMat was melting and...

Re: My build so far… REconstructing

Back to white... Finally. The removal of the plastidip was NOT at all as suggested by Plastidip, but we got it off.

First couple of trips under the belt. Rethinking not adding solar and house...

Re: My build so far… REconstructing

I lined the insides of the dinette/benches so I wouldn't snag up my gear. I did the walls before putting them in the van, and then finished the floor after I put them in. Using "L" brackets to...

Re: My build so far… REconstructing

Fairly productive weekend. Slow and steady wins the race, right? I screwed a few things up and learned some along the way. I will get some details of lessons learned later this week.

Re: My build so far… REconstructing

Here is the cabinet that will go between the barn doors and the dinette. Cutting the back to match wall caused a little brain damage, but its working out ok… Hopefully I don't F up the doors.

Re: My build so far… REconstructing

Made some progress today on the dinette and cabinets…. Fingers crossed that I can wrap up the cabinets and get the staining complete tomorrow.

Re: My build so far… REconstructing

I bought the insulation/sound material for the floor base at Lowes on south wadsworth... near bike source and ski and golf...

I didn't "see" behind the walls but what ever you use will only be as...

Re: My build so far… REconstructing

We had Derek to the top (with fan and roof rack), side ladder, interior walls, finished door panels and 4WD with a vacuum actuated hubs. The process took longer than expected, but we made some...

Re: My build so far… REconstructing

I think the reflectix worked fine. I had it up for about a year and there was a noticeable difference, especially in the heat. In the winter, I had a harder time recognizing how well it worked, but...

Re: My build so far... REconstructing

Here are a couple of pics from today. I was able to finally drive the van home complete with 4WD, a pop top and finished walls. I am redoing the floor from scratch. I never really liked the foam...

Re: My build so far... Deconstructed

Alright... After a long wait (still kind of waiting actually) I have a few really bad pictures to post up. Despite heading to pick up my van, I decided to leave it for a few more quick additions...

Re: My build so far... Deconstructed

Well... I think it's about -10 right now. Had I thought about it earlier, I could have thrown my sleeping bag and pad in the van and tried the temp. The wife is out of town and it could have been...

Re: My build so far... Deconstructed

Back to the drawing the board.... After a bit of work and a little fun, I am not taking apart nearly everything previously done. I was only partially satisfied with the work I completed initally,...

Re: My build so far

Plastidip is holding strong…. mostly.

Drove through a hail storm this spring in the San Juans, and it has flaked off in a few spots around the windshield. Other than that, its good. I have...

Re: My build so far

Cruiser top. I thought I wanted the low profile version until I went to see CCV's high top version. The additional headroom with the top down is awesome.

Re: My build so far

Sorry... I have been absent for some time. New job, lots of changes. Yes, the Plastidip can be sprayed off with high pressure, but that is why I had it done. I paid a local shop $500 bucks or so...

Re: My build so far

Thank you all. The plasti-dip is pretty simply all in all. I did not spray it, but it required almost no prep. It really is designed to just peal off...so no sanding. Just a good washing. The...

Re: My build so far

"Paint".... Couldn't really deal with the creepy van white. I had the whole thing sprayed with gun metal grey plasti-dip and the windows tinted.

Re: My build so far

I used the holes that are already in the door and put a 2" bolt and washer through it, then I ran a nut and washer on the outside of the door and used locktite to secure the nut/bolt. Because the...
