Re: Front diff upgrade help

Another update on the upgrade.

I got the van back from the shop a week ago Wednesday. During the breakin process I kept feeling a vibration I didn't like. I was getting a drone and coming off...

Re: Front diff upgrade help

It's a Dana 60. No doubt about it. The shop guy crawled under it the other day to get numbers so he could order parts. I also contacted Advanced 4-Wheel systems a while back and they checked to...

Re: Front diff upgrade help

Thanks for the info and the very informative link. The article cleared up a bunch of things I didn't really understand.

Since my rig is a 92 I'm wondering which style kingpin I have. It would...

Re: Front diff upgrade help

Update to the last update

I dropped Gnarvan off at the drivetrain surgeons today. The shop manager said getting the 35 spline axles for the Dana 60 front diff so I could use a Truetrac shouldn't...

Re: Front diff upgrade help

Herb

I really like the design of the Detroit Truetrac. If I do have the 30 spline axles I'm pretty sure I can replace them with the 35 spline and end up with a Truetrac.

The cable activation...

Re: Front diff upgrade help

More info on the front diff decision.

I was down at Six States this morning looking for switches and wiring components to set up the E-locker when Don from the 4 X 4 shop spotted me out front. He...

Re: Front diff upgrade help

The way the shop guy explained it to me if the driveline goes in on a high pinion diff the truetrac would be spinning backwards and they aren't designed to do that. I don't really understand the...

Re: Front diff upgrade help

I found out today when the parts were being ordered that Eaton doesn't make a 30 spline high pinion truetrac for an early 90's front Dana 60. I had to spend the extra $82 for my second choice. A...

Angel

Has the front end ever gotten squirrely on you driving in 4Hi on slick stuff?

I was just checking out your gallery and saw the melted lights. Whats the story on those? I'm taking a...

Re: Front diff upgrade help

Not sure I like the concept of Gnarvan bein a Toad. It just sounds all wrong. Kinda like putting my GS on a trailer and towing it somewhere to ride.

Re: Front diff upgrade help

Towing that much weight with my van would be a death sentence for the eng/trans. I'll stick with my cat trailer.

Are you talking about towing both the bus and then a raft trailer behind the...

Re: Front diff upgrade help

The only way my van would do 70mph up 26 to Mt. Hood would be if you were behind me pushing with your V10. :p6:

Front diff upgrade help

I need some help making up my mind. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a gearing change to help my trans issues. I'll be swapping out the 3.54's for 4.10's and since the pumpkins are going to...
