Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

It's not about which shock you choose for the steering stabalizer, it's the need for an additional damping provided by an added damping set up. Since I added the custom made damper by Quadvan I have...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

You might consider an extra steering damper or aftermarket dual damper set up. It's not likely to be your existing shocks if they only have 5000 miles on them. I assume you are coil spring rather...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

I left the stock damper on. After having the wobble scare me too many times I figure there may be no such thing as overkill when it comes to DW.
The Quadvan design main axel mount actually works as...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

Nomadcat,
I just did the same install and now have zero wobble issues. The "feel" of the steering now comes close to my BMW. The Quadvan design is superior to the other high end damper kits I looked...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

I've always been intrigued by Unimogs. Maybe not so much now! Saw one with a neat camper built on the back heading into Saline valley last April...was that you? What is the upside of ownership? Like...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

I don't think you will have anymore problems. I don't have a Quigley but with only 20k on the 08 front end a proper alignment seems to have solved the problem. I am going to install an after market...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

DW= Holy Crap this thing is going to come apart any second! My intro to DW started as a slight movement in the steering wheel and got worse. Ford refers to DW as "steering wheel oscillation". I...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

I just returned from Death Valley. Probably did about 50 miles of washboard and 20 miles of serious 4wd stuff. This trip came after having the front end inspected and aligned to Quadvan Specs. I had...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

I was gonna say that! You both have convinced me to go to a double steering damper. I've learned a tremendous amount from this thread. The track bar angle on my van is nearly flat. I do have coil...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

Turbo,
Quadvan is testing a dual setup and I'm seriously interested in your cutom fab. When you get pics please post or PM me.
Thanks...everything you have said makes sense and since you've...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

Turbo....may I call you Turbo...you describe my dynamics almost exactly. But you say the dampers did not work? Or did your recent retrofit custom damper(s) do the trick?

New name..."Death Jounce"

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

Charlie 56,
When I went to Mclea's, I spent a good deal of time explaining my problem. The service guy was very good and seemed to understand. He also said their alignment mechanic had a lot of...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

I agree with you. In my case my research shows that Ford has taken no responsibility for the problem. They have done significant research and testing and conclude it's all about wear, tire size,...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

I believe my problem is solved. I took the van to another (3rd) alignment shop armed with the Ford TSB and the first shop's alignment stats which I now think started the problem. I also had the...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

My research has confirmed what most F series 4wd truck owners already know...this sterring wheel oscillation issue is wide spread and has been known to Ford for a long time. Google FORD TSB 07-10-10...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

John at Quadvan is convinced it's an alignment issue. He pointed me to Ford's TSB 07-10-10. It clearly describes the issue and the potential causes and fixes.
I located another shop in town that...

Re: Quadvan Death Wobble

Thanks...It definately happens with braking rather than just taking my foot off the gas. It has also happened when I hit uneven pavement.
I forgot to mention it only happens between 40 and 50 mph....

Quadvan Death Wobble

My 2005 RB V10 with a 2008 F350 4wd front axel (coil spring) has developed a serious wobble around 40-50 mph when brakes are applied. The axel has 20k on it. Mostly highway...maybe 100 miles off...
