I think you're giving Ford too much credit on the design of these.. Also keep in mind as vans are trucks, they are exempt from many 'passenger car' regulations... not sure if this specifically...

In stock form, yes... but they are made non/less...

In stock form, yes... but they are made non/less functional with some of the leaf spring conversions.

Bumpers shouldn't affect crumple zones, unless mounted to something other than the front frame...

Yes, airbags are triggered by the deceleration, bumpers won't affect that.

And of course, all the mods change everything.. bumpers, new front suspension, lifts, front mounted winches, poptops, etc.

I just try not to hit anything bigger than me.
