On my van clearance is lowest when tires are turned so edge of tread lines up front-to-back.

My stock 245/75R16 just miss the front bumper by about 1/2-inch. Unless my bumper has been pushed back without my knowledge, I would not go any larger than that. And the stock tires are about 30.5...
