Hopefully the frame isn't tweaked. I also wonder about a flaw in the glass. If some A-hole threw ice water on it I could see a problem there. Also a light tap of a sharp tool can do that and be very...

Glad you got it fixed. FWIW my van has sat in full sun every year since new and I've seen temps into the 120+ zone. No broken windows except during a break-in.

Well I've been out of the fire service for several years but
I've never heard or seen that. We had ways to pop windows
that didn't let glass go everywhere but finger tapping was never
one shown...

I'm thinking that window tapping was a stunt. Maybe something in his glove?

But to the OP, I could see somebody just throwing something at the window to spider it out.
