Hum, I wonder if there is more damage than just the motor? I hope not. Anyway please report back after you get the new one in and tell us if all went well.

Interesting... I didn't think the slide plate would max out against something and if it did I'd think whatever it stops at could be removed. So there was no way to push the top up further to relieve...
