My guess (and it's only a guess) at this...

My guess (and it's only a guess) at this point.....is that one of those white wires that you hooked up to the positive terminal is in fact a ground wire. And by connecting it to the positive terminal...

It sounds like you've got a pretty good idea of where all the wires are supposed to go.....

.....but did you by chance take a photo of it when the previous battery was still installed and hooked...
