It's definitely worth noting and factoring in that Larrie did indeed confirm you CAN get the Aluminess tire carrier situated to allow access to the tire-winch access hole...

Check to see if yours has a round plastic "guide plate" (at bumper height on the frame) that the inboard end of the swing-arm rests on when it is in the closed position. Is it actually resting on it?...
