Thanks for the replies. I've found the compressors and taken the fridge apart but the equipment and the time seem prohibitive. Especially the soldering and charging

My current bad luck streak continues as my Dometic/Waeco cooler/ freezer gave up the ghost one month out of warrentee. They can't be repaired and have to be replaced when the compressor fails so...
