We probably can't change our GVWR. But, an upfitter who certifies the vehicle to meet FMVSS can certify it to a different GVWR. Quigley recertifies their vans, but unfortunately they recertify to a...

Salem-Kroger formally increased the GVWR of my van. They gave me the choice of 11000# or my choice below that. I chose 9999#. AAA won't tow over 10,000 GVWR without special RV coverage. 9999# gets me...

Around 2003 Ford stopped supplying full floating rear axles on vans. Why? Cost.

My 2004 has a semi floating rear axle.

When S-K did my 4wd conversion, the front WR and GVWR were both raised. GVWR now is 9999# - my choice since over 10,000# GVWR can cause other issues - including AAA may not tow vehicles over 10,000...
