Sorry, thought you were installing a coolant filter.

But, it still probably doesn't matter which hose you install your vavle in. Either way, you will block the flow through...

The directions tell you which hose to cut into - the top I believe. But, I couldn't get near that hose, so I spliced into the hose I could reach. Works fine.
