Re: Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

Depending on how your van is wired, the amp/sub may be running off your house batteries, especially when the van is not running. Do you have a radio switch that you have to flip to listen to it when...

Re: Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

I have not had any issues with the panel size/placement. It really does not overhang the van on either side. While it is slightly wider than the width at the top of the PH, it is not wider than the...

Re: Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

Joe, if I recall correctly, the solar panel already has holes in the side of the panel for mounting (all 4 sides). I'm sure AZ Wind & Sun or other members who have installed panels themselves can...

Re: Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

JoeH, SMB installed the panel directly to the roof, they did not use the Thule tracks. Basically there is an aluminum "L" rail in the front and rear of the panel (you can see the rear one in my...

Re: Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

I figured I should update this topic since I had the panel installed by SMB West this prior Monday. All went smoothly and they were able to position it exactly where I wanted. The penthouse springs...

Re: Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

We ordered the van with the solar prewire, so it already has the Blue Sky charge controller. I can't remember which model number it is, but I can look when I get home if needed.

Re: Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

Thanks for all the help everyone. I ordered the Kyocera KD135SX-UPU (https://www.solar-electric.com/kykc130wasop.html) from Northern Arizona Wind & Sun. This is the model with the junction box to...

Re: Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

Thanks Dave. Since we live close to the ocean I'll try to spec stainless steel. I can always change it out myself as well if needed. So, you have the panels with the junction box and not the MC4...

Re: Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

I'm leaning on not worrying too much about a couple of inch overhang on the side as Mike suggested. Especially since it will not be wider than the van body itself.

I'm planning on buying the...

Re: Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

Wow scatter, you are really trying to help the economy with that link :b1:. Some of the solar panels from amsolar look great as far as specs go. However, does anyone have any real world experience...

Re: Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

Solar Panel Selection/Fit Help

I am planning on buying a new solar panel in the next week or so. I will then be driving up to SMB (Fresno) to have them install it since I will also need to get the penthouse springs adjusted and...
