I just painted around the rails. I did not notice any cracks running into/under them, and they were very secure. Why open a can of worms. I can hit them in the future if I have to take them off.

Amazing what tape can do for you. I used the detail in the roof as a good transition. White was my only color choice, as I was trying to reduce heat. I definately think people will mistake it for CHP...
