Scangauge now monitors engine oil temp for the 6.0psd.

Apologies if this is a repeat, but I just learned that you can now program the scangauge to monitor engine oil temp (EOT) for the 6.0psd.

A year or so ago, I programmed mine to monitor trans fluid temp (TFT). This morning I programmed for EOT per the instructions above and it works fine.

Now the data geek in me can monitor coolant, oil and tranny fluid temps all at once.

Just last month I emailed Scanguage and they told my NO EOT for the 6.0.

Now I have one more thing to do, and to get done before my trip.

Guess I've had my ScanGuage just long enough to have to pay $25 for the X-Guage upgrade. Complaining aside, I am going to do it for the EOT.

I guess EOT is a good piece of info, but shouldn't it run more or less the same as water temp?

The difference between Water temp and Oil temp is the best indication of a plugged oil cooler. More than 14 degrees means it is time to replace the oil cooler. And that is a big deal to prevent much bigger problems.

Darn! Wish they would come up with some new codes for the Sprinter! I may have to let the Sprinter Store put an exhaust temp guage in mine.

Very helpful tip, thanks.

We drove about 350 miles yesterday, averaging between 55-65mph. And yes, the EOT was almost always very close to the coolant temp. Usually within 1-2 degrees. But at times they diverged, usually after pulling a long hill when the coolant temp fell much faster than the EOT. Probably reflects the cooling fan? The biggest difference between the two was 11deg, and that only lasted for about 1-2 minutes before they converged again.

My thing is that my Ford temp gauge and the scan gauge both gave me misleading measurements.

What is the max oil temp one should see? I can't seem to find any agreement on this.
