RAIN DELAYED - Three days and two nights in Baja!

My wife and I are planning a short trip into northern Baja the weekend of September 7th and 8th and invite you to come along.

Day 1: Saturday, Sept. 7th. We will be crossing the border at Tecate, BC, and heading east on Hwy 2 to El Hongo where we will head south on the Compadre Trail and up into the "Pine Forest" of northern Baja to camp for the night, perhaps at Laguna Hanson.

(http://www.billcaid.com/1985/LagunaH...unaHanson.html, http://bglclub.com/laguna-hanson-in-...ucion-de-1857/)

Day 2: Sunday, Sept. 8th. We will cross over the peninsula to the west coast through Valle de Trinidad and and the Vineyards of Llano Colorado to the beaches south of Erendira to camp for the night.

Day 3: Monday, Sept. 9th. We will return to the Tecate Border (border traffic is light weekdays) by way of Santo Tomas, Ensenada, Valle Guadalupe and Tecate. (This is Baja Wine Country and we could be persuaded to stay another night.)

This is a great trip for the experienced Baja traveler as well as first timers - it is easy border crossings, minimal Mexican traffic, fantastic sights and reasonable off-road adventure.

If anyone would like to join us, we can hash out the details here.

First, I want to say thanks for the group invite!
Second, I want to meet the mind that conjured and constructed that TTB 4x4 axle and actually examine the beast myself.
Third, I would like to discuss some of my crazy build ideas with you over a ceveza or two.
Fourth, I would like to see Baja through your experienced eyes.
But alas, my wife and I are up to our eyeballs in alligators on a project which requires our full attention.
So, until we meet, Vaya con Dios, mi Amigo!

One of these days you will have to join us - perhaps on a longer trip in early March to see the baby Gray Whales.

Great trip and itinerary. There can be some fun surf in the Erendira area. Regardless, really nice beaches and scenery. I would love to join you on this one, but I believe my wife already has plans that weekend.

We are heading down to Baja first week of October (Abreojos) for a week.

Thanks again! If I start preparing now, I may be ready for early March...

Re: Three days and two nights in Baja - you are invited!

I hope some of you will consider joining us.

I know many have some misgivings about traveling in Baja - we have been doing it since the '70's and have never had any problems. Today, Baja seems safer than ever to me and more welcoming than before.

This trip is mostly on dirt roads that do not require 4x4, and the rest is on paved highway and avoids busy and congested areas. I can't think of a better first time trip into Baja.
