A few trails below Yosemite

I've posted about the Burma Grade road but about a year ago I met up with CellularSTEVE and my buddy Don to take the Miami Trail. We hit 3 separate trails, Crocker Ridge, Burma Grade, and the Miami trail. The trip report is on my web site but here is a short slideshow of our travels. No real wheeling and never had to go into four wheel drive just a nice camping trip.

Re: A few trails below Yosemite

Dave, thanks for posting right before the weekend. Burma Grade had been on my list for a long time but without 4WD I've shied away from it, especially during the "rainy" season.

But it couldn't be drier, so prompted by your post, up I went Saturday evening in time for sunset. Camped up top all by my lonesome for an excellent evening of stargazing, hiked out to Texas Hill in the morning for views, then exited via Groveland and looped back through Yosemite to the starting point, touring a good bit of Rim Fire aftermath en route.

I would post pictures but they would just look like a dry brown version of the excellent ones on your website writeup, which is what inspired me in the first place.

Re: A few trails below Yosemite

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Hopefully they'll get the washout on the Old Coulterville Trail repaired. It also would be 2wd friendly in the weather we've had during the last month. But rain is here again and hopefully it will hit hard; we need it.
It sure was sad to see the results of the Rim Fire. I lost a ton of camping and off roading spots both 2 & 4WD.
