Moab Meet Up-March 22-25
We are headed to Moab for part of our spring break March 22-25. No set plans as of now, but was looking at spending a few days exploring the trails around Moab. If there is interest in joining, lower onion creek group spot was available last time we checked.
(Our other Utah pass through is at the end of our Alaska journey this summer, we are meeting up with some friends at Washington lake August 8-10 on our way home and would be into staying a few extra days there or somewhere near by to meet up with others the 10th-12th. Will have to check our Utah book for some areas to explore around there. Maybe someone has suggestions?)

I'd definitely be interesting in meeting up in Moab. Been looking for a weekend to get up there and do some mtb riding. I'll keep checking back for more details.

Re: Moab Meet Up-March 22-25
Hi Rick,
I am going to try and get down to Moab at the end of April. It will be my first trip there. I know you have been there several times. Do You have any recommendations for scenic backroad trails I can take in my lifted 2W drive SMB?
Mac

Onion creek or potash, I think both would be doable. There's camping spots at upper and lower onion creek, first come and only 4 spots at lower...we like to go out towards dead horse, lots of primitive spots off to the right as you're headed up. We've camped at goose island, first one on 128, right on the road, not our fav, but bike trail and close to town.
Stop by and say hi to my buddy BC, he owns Milts, it's in town(old burger joint).
Headed there tomorrow, new CCV top is on, still have the rack and lights to do.
Gemini bridges is an easy one too, might be helpful to pick up one of the trail books

Mac, I'll be down there as well end of April for a week, will be boondocking each night. We're down there riding the trails on side by sides and dirt bikes but come camp for a night or so or come out for some all you can eat brick oven pizza in town.

Re: Moab Meet Up-March 22-25
Had a great time exploring some new areas and Lake got his jr ranger badges at arches and canyonlands. Saw a few other SMB's. Had to make a run to Powell to pick up my fishing gear, took the 4X4 trail from Hite to green river, talk about remote! Just awesome country out there...ran into a nice cattle rancher who was gracious enough to give us a great spot to stop for the night just up from his camp, told us some stories about the surrounding canyons and a petroglyph around the bend.
Mac, I'm sure you're going to check out the parks while you're there, canyonlands and arches are both amazing places with some great short hikes and some of the best trails run right through them, check out the rim trail or potash. Have fun, would be nice to do another Moab meet again, maybe next year.

Re: Moab Meet Up-March 22-25
Where are the pictures Rick? You must have taken some beautiful shots.
When I looked at the map of the area I realized I probably will be spending a lot of time exploring Arches and Canyonlands since I have never been there before. There are probably enough beautiful paved roads in the area to explore that I may not even get off on the dirt roads this time. Although that would disappoint my SMB greatly. He likes to get dirty.
I'm not sure how long I will be down there. My wife is spending that same week on a trip to Disneyland and the LA area with her three sisters. I thought if she can have a fun trip without me then I should have a fun trip without her. Besides, Sportsmobiling beats Disneyland any day.

You should probably ask Alex (Rick's wife). I think she runs the camera in that operation, and she does a great job too if I might add.
