Oregon Beach

The first trip of the year. I thought when I put it all away it was ready to go. It was prepared, but I was filled with anxiety.

First stop was Crater Lake. Being winter there was little traffic. We had the camper parking all to ourselves.

We really could not go anywhere. However the view is worthy of at least one good picture.

The destination was Cape Lookout Beach. Anytime of the year is usually bad weather at any Oregon Beach. However the weather was perfect and no one like it better than the dog.

Took a sightseeing trip to Cape Mears Lighthouse. We were told the wales could be seen there, but someone forgot to tell the wales what time to perform.

Then off to Tillamook Air Museum in the WWII Blimp hanger.

It doesn't look so big from far away. However it is enormous.

Here is my next camper conversion:

And more boring pictures of planes:

Super nice campground right on the beach.

Saw some real 4X4 sportsmobile contenders. The Dodge has Sterling written in the grill.

However just being on the beach was great. A little wind in the afternoon, but not enough for the paragliders to stay up for long.

Those two campers would have been worth the stop to go through.

Thanks for sharing the trip report.

I was looking for an opportune time to say hi but they were gone before I got a chance. I still haven't figured out the right way to do this. I know 9 out of 10 who approach us tend to a bit weird and we have a good laugh when they are gone. I don't want to be "that guy".

I've suffered a little anxiety over this too. Man do our vans attract some weirdos though! Wait, am I a....................??? Thanks for the trip report. We're traversing that area this summer and can't wait. Crater Lake is among my wife and I's favorite places.

The approach I use, whether SMB or something else, is just saying, "Nice Rig!" Then I let their response determine whether to go further than that. With a guy one time in Zion I commented on his nice SMB. He didn't say anything other than a noncommittal "Thanks." I followed up by saying, "I have a Sportsmobile too. It's just over there." He didn't take the bait so I stopped fishing and walked on.

Big mistake. Never go to Oregon with out a boat. There is so much water. I told Francesa it always rains so we won't bother with the boat. I am still hearing about that mistake!

Re: Oregon Beach

There's nothing like the Oregon coast and sunshine!! Crater Lake was looking pretty good too.

That's definitely the EarthRoamer XV-JP - you can see the custom copper-and-wood sunburst on the underside of the popped top.

The build thread on ExPo is 74 pages long, but definitely worthy of a read-through. Amazing craftsmanship!

Cheers,
Brent
