Looks like a good time at Assateague! You got to see some ponies I see. Cool.

Yes, thanks for our input. The horses were all over the campgrounds. Not a bit shy. Hwy 13 was great.

Re: Trip to Outer Banks

Never saw any bad weather. Our trip totaled 3 weeks so we were probably long gone from the Outer Banks by the time weather you refer to came.

CHNS Ocracoke Campground - 3 nights
CHNS Oregon Inlet Campground - 3 nights
Assateague Island NS Oceanside Campground - 2 nights

So we spent about 9 days and 8 nights on the Outer Banks.

Stiff breeze all but one night and no real bug problem EXCEPT FOR ONE night. Beautiful weather.

Side story: This spring I converted all my van lighting to LED's. Brighter, less power then old halogen - florescent lighting system. SO, in my wisdom I choose the only still night to turn on ALL my interior lights while we spent the evening playing a board game. So nice, so bright, and using less power than any one of the old lights. THE penthouse top screening IS NOT NO-SEE-UM PROOF........I KNEW, BUT FORGOT, THAT. The next day I had 100+ bites - stopped counting when got to 70+ on my arms - on me. Wife had 50+ bites. Damn things drove us crazy for the next 10 days. We WILL be more watchful on future trips.

Starting to dream about building a new van for the next 15 years of use. Would love to get a 6th window on the blind end of the penthouse and would also love to get at least 3 of the windows with the finer no-see-um screening. That would allow us to mix and match the vans ventilation as needed.
