For Jeremiah and Kim

A long time ago, before you realized children take more time, energy and care than pets need, you wanted to go to Alaska to see moose.

You aren't here, but some moose are. Here is the first moose I've seen in Alaska this trip. I will post more as I see them, and I hope others will add their moose photos to this thread for your 'virtual' moose tour of Alaska.

Mike

The second one was really close. I was resting in VivaLaVida after a very long hike just next to the forest and he came out about 30 feet away. A great meet !

Re: For Jeremiah and Kim

2 very lost moose on the big wood river near bellevue id. they snuck up on my wife and brother in law snapped the pic.

was at camp and my sister got a call from my brother in law. all she said was "do i need to bring a gun?" and hung up. i asked her what was going on as her hubby and my wife were together fishing nearby. she said he was just letting us know to be careful heading twords the river cause there was a mama and her calf in the immediate area. we jumped on our mt bikes and started riding twords where they were. right when we got to the tree line, both moose jetted in front of us. they ran a good 50' down the trail and just stared at us. figured that was the end of the encounter. nope, i ended up face to face (about 20-25') with mama 20 min later when i was out looking for critters (small ones, lol). we had our 20-30 second stand off as i backed away slowly till i could see her losing intrest.

ive had many run ins with moose on the teton pass. everytime i had a snowboard strapped to my feet and couldnt have been more helpless. luckily, all circumstances ended well. one day, a buddy of mine ran into the back of a moose while we were snowboarding up there. all i heard was "oh shit!!!!". shortly after a moose came trucking out the trees and as i lay on the ground in 3-4' of snow this moose looks at me and runs the other direction. my buddy comes out the trees with eyes the size of dinner plates and asks me if I saw that moose...which you could still clearly see running away from us. he said he literally ran into it and had both of his hands on its ass. ill tell you what, moose look a lot bigger when your laying on the ground looking up at them...even the small ones

Re: For Jeremiah and Kim

I've never made a good image of a moose, so here is the family orientated version for J & K.
