My front Z's awning bracket is just a smidge too fat. No matter how I position it, the tops of the doors scrape the bracket. Does anyone see a problem with grinding down the bracket just a tad where the top of the bracket meets the bottom of the rain gutter? The bottom of the rain gutter is not flat, so the bracket really just needs a slight groove to make it flush with the bottom of the rain gutter. And probably grind down the bottom of the bracket where the doors pass under it, just to make it as smooth as possible and allow room for some primer and paint. I could try to bend the rain gutter, but I do not want to do that: the reason for the Z's brackets is so I don't have to effect the van body in any way. I would also have to then bend the bracket to return it to perpendicular.
Is it possible that your rain gutter has too much paint on it? Or your door is slightly high at the rear?
I'd be hesitant to grind down the awning bracket at that point. It would probably lead to flex and failure.
Hard to pinpoint the problem from here.
Sorry,
Mike

Could be either or both. But I really don't want to alter the van, which works ("ain't broke, don't ..."). I'm thinking with 3 brackets, and how stout the steel is in the bracket, that a smidge off the thickness should not be a factor. But if I was sure I wouldn't have to ask.
mine did not fit properly bent my awning after a 2 week trip so have to make some new ones i guess my life store any time i buy something to save me time from making it i end up redoing it any way .
I email the guy telling him they did not fit and how to fix them he blew me off.
