Truck Bed Lining Touch Up on Bumpers and Lower Rails

First weekend with the new SMB and taking care of small projects, cleaning, etc. It is a white Ford Van and the prior owner had Herculinered the bumpers, and lower rails, and front grill.

So this morning I was in HD and found that RustOleum now has a spray on truck bed lining product, so I decided to pick up a couple of cans to do some touch up. It sprays on easy...toughest is the prep (like ALWAYS), and really turned out awesome. The black out look with the white van looks stealthy and cool.

Just FYI: It's a little late now but the rear bumper pads will pop off so you could paint without covering them too. Looks good though. I use the same stuff on my ladder and bumpers, but it's the Dupli-Color variety from Advance.

You can also pop off the ladder for spray, prob easier than doing all that prep work, esp on the rear ladders...next time. I've used the dupli-color spray cans as well with good results

A little off topic, but have any of you used the spray-can rubberized undercoating? I've been thinking of spraying the wheel wells on my Bronco, to cut down some of the road noise from my 35" BFG Mud Terrains.

I've used it on my Comanche wheel wells for aesthetics but I don't think you can apply it thick enough for that benefit.

I saw the Duplicolor product and bought a can this afternoon. I am curious about the difference between the Duplicolor and Rustoleum.

Prob close to the same textured product, never used the rustoleum one though. The dupli color nozzle has a tendency to clog up if you just use a bit then let it sit for a while, clean out the nozzle with a pin, assume all the textured sprays have this prob.

Yes, that's what I used underneath Rusty, but as stated above I don't think it will benefit you any. Also, it scrapes off very easily. In fact, driving in heavy rain will remove it from the direct track right above your wheels. I suppose it might stick better to a clean, prepped surface, but not so easy to do in a wheel well.

Do you need to scuff up the surface for it to stick properly? How durable is this compared to getting a gallon of the roll on stuff?

Actually the Rustoleum never clogged. I was very pleased with the ease of application. No scuff up needed but of course I was applying over existing.

However, there was a rung on the ladder that had peeled and as an experiment I simply sprayed it and the Rustoleum seemed to bond very nicely. I will be watching it however.
