Best RV Campground Directory
Fellow SMB Campers,
I'm looking for suggestions for best State Park Campground Directory book?
And Best RV/Caravan Park Directory, please?
In Australia there is a national RV/Caravan Park Directory brought out by our National Motoring Body, the Australian Automobile Association, a non profit, member organisation, it's very good, then in each state there are government land campground books, is there an American equivalent?
Look forward to your help. Need your help to stay safe and not be in the wrong area, for animals and people!

Re: Best RV Campground Directory
Probably not what you're looking for but the Ultimate Campground app has a very good listing of public areas. I've never been impressed with private campground directories -- too much advertising and/or misleading info; i.e., alleged wifi signals that don't exist, cost extra or are throttled in some way.

Re: Best RV Campground Directory
I downloaded an app called "Oh Ranger Park Finder". You can choose what you're looking for (hiking, bike trails, campgrounds, etc.) and it will list everything within 100 miles. I haven't really used it yet, but it seems like its pretty thorough.

And the Ultimate Campground Project app mentioned above too. Those are my go to's. About the campground books, I think in America most of the books you might find, from companies like Good Sam or FMCA probably, are going to pertain mostly to private and luxury RV parks where people can fit big diesel pushers. That has been my experience in the past. For the places you would want to take a Sportsmobile I think the best resources, besides the apps listed here, are probably forums like this and Expedition Portal. Ask around when you're planning a trip and you'll get some phenomenal suggestions of places the crowds might not know about.

Re: Best RV Campground Directory
I would have said Woodall's http://www.woodalls.com/. But I see they have been swallowed up by Good Sam. The old woodall's guides were very good for RV sites, I have not tried the newer Good Sam version, so I can't really comment on how good it is.

+1 for the Allstays app on iOS. Hasn't steered us wrong yet with our limited use. User descriptions in the app have been spot on so far. Plus it seems to be always up-to-date. We're in the US, though, so I don't know if it will help you in Oz.

Re: Best RV Campground Directory
I understand the "campground thing" Doug but are you planning to ask about places to boon dock at as well? I mean looking at your rig I'd think you'd be lookin for spots away from the crowds.
