Manchester Propane Tank Swap

So I need to replace my rusty propane tank and just wondered if anyone could tell me if the new one would be a direct swap with the old. The catalog numbers are different but the dimensions seem to be the same. I'm also having a hard time figuring out if the fittings will be in the same spot. Any help would be most appreciated.

Re: Manchester Propane Tank Swap

I'd probably give Manchester a call (of course I would ask here too!). I wonder if the gallonage discrepancy might be the difference between full and 80% full (which is what people fill to in real life these days). Be interesting to find out.

Re: Manchester Propane Tank Swap

I've attached dimensional drawings of both tanks (which I found online at some point). For our build, I ended up getting the tank from Sportsmobile. It was cheaper, the valves were in the right spot, and the stone guard was custom fit to the SMB access door.

Re: Manchester Propane Tank Swap

They still make a 6815.

I just ordered and installed one myself. In December.

I have a connection and paid 380 from an RV parts store where I know the parts manager.
He owed me a few favors.

Re: Manchester Propane Tank Swap

Came across this place for propane tanks and the prices seem very good. Not sure what SMB charges for their equivalent. Never used these guys so no recommendation either way:
