Control Arm Cracks
2002 E-350 with Quigley 4WD conversion, lots of miles south of the border.
While doing an oil change yesterday I noticed a couple of hairline cracks in my control arms. The Quigley recall of the parts has expired but they will give me a 10% discount on if I buy all four at $540 + shipping. I'll be replacing them after we get our tax return, but in the meantime I'd like to pull the existing control arms, have the cracks welded up and a plate welded onto the open c-channel to beef them up.
-How difficult is it to remove and replace the control arms? It looks pretty straightforward, is there anything I should keep in mind during the Removal/Replacement? Can I remove all four and have all the work done at once or should I do it in pairs?
I'm sure this has been discussed quite a bit but a quick search didn't answer all of my questions regarding the R&R. I'll be posting this on the FordEnthusiasts forum as well.
Thanks for any input!
-Mark...
