Interesting solar powered light

Might be a decent camping (low level) light.

Re: Interesting solar powered light

If you like that sort of thing check out these from Ikea:

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70196857/

They also have some colored lamps (the lamp, not the light) in stores.

Really bright with a very uniform light. Batteries are replaceable, and you can use the battery pack/solar panel for other stuff (about 3.6v). You can also power the light with another power source if you have 3.6v available (the connectors are basically little spade ones). I use one for reading in the van or outdoors all the time. The base is fairly heavy so they're real sturdy. Thought of mounting one since the gooseneck is nice, and since you can put the power pack anywhere.

Note that they are more directional than the Luci, which appears to be more diffuse.

Re: Interesting solar powered light

Herb, we have one of them and I've given them away as gifts several times as well. They are a really impressive, extremely light weight light. I would definitely recommend it.

Re: Interesting solar powered light

Picked up a Luci Aura (frosted plastic and different color LEDs) and I'm really liking it, though I haven't used it camping yet (soon though).

Puts out a fair amount of light, but I would say its more of an ambient light than a reading light. A half dozen or so in an SMB could be very cool though. Super compact (almost exactly the diameter of a CD), and just about the same height as a CD when inflated. Deflated, it becomes very thin, with the air valve being the only part that sticks out.

I have not yet checked to see how long the light lasts on one charge.

I ordered off of Amazon and when I ordered it, it had gone down in price to just over $20, but I see that it's back up to the $25 price now. Not sure what was going on there.

Re: Interesting solar powered light

I just bought two of the white lights from Amazon for $15 each. I think the multi-colored ones were $25 each.
