HI,
My "new" van has an after market radio with lots of bells and whistles. I'd like to take it out and put back an original radio/CD player, and transfer the new radio to another vehicle so it can be appreciated by a more tech savvy frequent driver.

I did a few searches online but only found a few of those radio units and all for exorbitant prices. Am I missing something? Seems that there should be lots of those units out there (have you got one gathering dust under your workbench) since I would think that Ford probaly used the same unit for several years.

Any clues as to where to look? Of course once I find it I might ask for help in making the switch.

Oh, you might try Rob or Randy at SMB west. I saw a whole bunch of them in a pile some time back. Sorry but I don't know if they sell them, junk them or give them away. Give Peter Deltoro a call or E-mail SMB.

If the SMB West call doesn't pan out I'd strongly suggest eBay for a gently used take out OEM radio.

Its possible but hopefully not too likely PO modified stock wiring and connectors to accommodate the new stereo unit. Certainly not an insurmountable problem but one to look into and be prepared to restore it all so the original radio would be a plug n play device once again.

Can you post a pic of the one you're looking for? I realize you don't have it but wondering if you can show me the one you want. I'm pretty sure I have the original out of my 02 van and it's yours for the shipping if I do. I'll look today and post a pic of what I've got if I don't hear back first.

Uh...I might suggest getting to know your upgraded stereo before yanking it out. It probably adds sat radio, nav and a much better sound than the original, nice to have for long trips for sure. Also consider, if you have amplifiers and upgraded speakers, they will most likely not perform nearly as well with the stock head unit, as they are lower voltage. I think I also have a stock head unit laying around from my '02

I don't think the speakers were modified -- I'll look into that. I saw a radio/cd player on ebay a few weeks ago but it was exorbitantly priced (100s of dollars which seemed a bit bizare to me).

I'm trying to figure out which years of Ford radios are compatible.

I have the original out of my 2007. You can have it for shipping. AM FM CD.
