Van will not start!

I was excited to get my HAM radio installed this morning. I started by removing the wires for the second radio and power wires of the rear antenna that I will not use. I only removed wires that were part of the added HAM system. I did have the door open the whole time, but did not think it would be a problem.

After install, I was going to pull the van out to try out my radio, but it would not start. I thought it was the starting batteries, but put a charge on them and they look good. It does not make a sound when I turn the key.

Any suggestions before I call Good Sam Assistance tomorrow (not going to call on Easter)?

Re: Van will not start!

daveb,

Yes headlights strong, alarm works, HAM Radio turns on. The batteries seem fine.

It did act weird on time when I removed the key, it still beeped like the key was in the ignition.

Re: Van will not start!

Well good thing I have Good Sam Roadside assistance. The Yeti is getting towed to my mechanic. I will post what the problem was. I am guessing I pulled something loose when I was removing all the old wires for the PO HAM set up. I ended up mounting it where he had it and could have been done in 2 minutes, but I had to clean up the wires to satisfy my CDO (Like OCD with the letters in alphabetical order like they should be). Lesson learned.

Yes. I talked with a friend and he mentioned the same thing. I could not find anything unplug or out of place. We will see. I will have to pay a little for towing as my guy is a few miles out of their free range. My guy will figure it out and he is very fair.

Re: Van will not start!

I've had just a few panic moments ('02 F250, '06 E350, '01 Excursion) where I forgot to plug in my Ravelco key and tried to start the vehicle.

Re: Van will not start!

Well you will not believe this. As the tow truck is driving off, I got a email from the PO asking if I had hit the Kill Switch. I called the tow guy before he left my neighborhood and with the help of the PO found the kill switch and she started right up. No tow needed and I did not mess anything up. This is a good day. Now I know.

Re: Van will not start!

The kill switch by the passenger door down by the foot area? Or do you have another kill switch somewhere?

Not in the foot well. That would be to dangerous. I am glad it is over. It wore me out this weekend.
