Out of vehicle battery maintenance

Hi,
I need to get a new battery charger for when I take the batteries out for the winter. I want to be able to desulphate, then charge. I have been thinking about a Battery Minder. What thoughts are out there?
Thanks,
Mike

Re: Out of vehicle battery maintenance

I have a battery minder 2/4/8 and like it. Use it on my bass boat and power supply batteries.

Ditto on the battery minder 12248. Buy it directly from them and they will automatically register the warranty for you.

Thanks to you both. That looks like what I need. I can put both my house batteries on and keep them fresh for the next year.

Re: Out of vehicle battery maintenance

Just monitor the charge. With a high amp charger you have the chance to boil the batteries if one goes bad destroying the other (in a multiple battery system) and possibly causing a fire. With a low amp charger a bad battery can kill the other because the charger can't keep up and in the end both batteries go dead. Catch-22
Sometimes a separator or smart charger can help but really neither are "smart". Watch the charge.

http://smartercharger.com/

Jay Leno did a thing with this company. I would love to hear from someone who uses it.

Re: Out of vehicle battery maintenance

Looks fine for starter batteries. If you find any desulphating smart charger for a 250Ah house battery, please let me know.
