Penthouse roof rack lights....

Looking for feedback on how you wired any lights up on lifting penthouse roof rack?
Wiring, switch locations, suggestions, etc.... and any thoughts. Was thinking of adding a few lights front, back sides.

thanks!

Re: Penthouse roof rack lights....

Have two Rigid Industries work lights installed on the rack. Wires run along the rack's frame to a marine grade entry point (hole was drilled through the penthouse top). Prior to hitting the entry point, the wires run into a plastic sleeve that is also used to route the solar panel wires. That sleeve eventually runs down into the driver's side bulkhead. The sleeve is long enough to allow for the raising of the top and I haven't experienced any issues with the sleeve compressing during the lowering process. Once in the bulkhead, the work light wires were routed to the dashboard mounted upfitter switches (OEM). I like having them there so that the lights can be turned on/off from the driver's seat. That said, using the upfitter switches means that the vehicle's key needs to be in the ignition and turned to the acc selector. If it wasn't pouring down rain I'd snap some pictures for you.

Re: Penthouse roof rack lights....

Mine is the same except I mounted the switches next to the dome light. I also have mine rigged so either the vehicle is in Acc mode or running. I have a front bar a corner light on the left and right then two smaller lights on each side and two on the back all switched as banks. My fog lights are also routed to the switch panel.
