Avatal Remote Start/Run not working

After my alternator went in the Avatal alarm will no longer remote run, it makes the tones and everything but then it immediately dies, the Avatal tries to restart, it dies, and repeats.

Also my temperature readout in the rearview mirror shows - - - . - instead of a reading.

I'm thinking some wiring got shifted, I lost a ground or something during the install. Any ideas what I'm looking for, or where the temperature sensor is? I'm hoping it's something on top of the engine bay (e.g. easy) but I thought maybe someone would have some insight since it's snowing here and I can't go look at it at the moment.

Re: Avatal Remote Start/Run not working

I asked John Kalmbach (for those who remember him from Fresno) where the sensor for the mirror temperature gauge was located and he said that it was in the fender well if that helps.
