Air Conditioning Issue

A/C recently quit working...bud hadn't yet had a chance to get it in for diagnosis but then, yesterday, I took the van out for a quick trip. A/C was off but I had the blower on high with the vent setting only. As soon as I returned and reached my driveway the "check gauges" light illuminated. The engine temperature was at the top end.....HOT. I shut her down and heard hissing and found a pretty good sized leak already forming from the side (driver's side) about half way down. Underneath the A/C lines running to the back of the van were venting steam and condensing fluid to create the leak. It took quite a while for the hissing/leak to stop. To me the fluid definitely smelled like A/C fluid.

Any ideas what is going on?

Re: Air Conditioning Issue

Sounds like the rear heater hose instead of the ac. Probably reason for overheating.

Yep. Coolant lines run to and from rear unit if you have rear ac. Sounds like you might have 2 problems though.

Re: Air Conditioning Issue

Hmmm....good points. The Espar is back there too. I wonder if it might have caused the issue. I will look into it.

Thanks guys.
