Inverter issue

I just bought a 2005 Ford E250 with 105K on it. I can't get the 110 outlets or any of the AC items to work while the vehicle is running. They work when connected to shore power through to 30 amp cable, however. Additionally, there is a on/off switch behind the drivers seat that I don't know the purpose of- switching it on/off doesn't change the AC power situation or anything else obvious. Its not listed in the manual either. Any ideas on either?

Re: Inverter issue

The obvious question would be is the inverter on? What kind of inverter do you have? The switch behind the drivers seat could possibly before Starcool air, do you have that?

Re: Inverter issue

Or do you even have an inverter? You might just have a converter, which takes AC and converts it to DC when you are plugged in to run the DC appliances. Many SMBs have converters and not inverters.

Is your van a Sportsmobile? Have you confirmed that you have an inverter? If so, what is the make/model of the inverter? Does the inverter have a remote control panel somewhere?

Re: Inverter issue

There is also a small On/Off/Auto switch on the face of the inverter that may be in the off position. I leave mine that way when we aren't camping to conserve the batteries.
