Smallest generator?
Hi:
We usually get by for about four days with the fridge running and the solar power. But, on longer trips where we stay in the same place, I'm thinking I need a small generator. Any suggestions?
Small and quiet are the key things.

Re: Smallest generator?
Love my Honda 2000. And it doubles as a backup for my house if we lose power. Enough to run both refrigerators, lights, and tv. Plus it self governs depending on load so super quiet.

Re: Smallest generator?
Personally I would add/expand your solar panels but if you are dead set on getting a generator the Honda EU1000i is the smallest, quietest generator on the market.

Ditto. The eu2000 is great for SMB camping and I also use it for other purposes too.

The 1000 is very capable which I usually carry to charge up the big house battery, plus it's smaller and lighter then the 2000.
I carry the 2000 when I need to run the portable air conditioner and lately it's the backup and emergency house generator.

Re: Smallest generator?
Another vote for a Honda. Though expensive, the best value is the 2000. I'm sure the 1000 would work but like others have said, the 2000 is great as a home backup, etc. and you can run some AC units with it too. Either way, if you want something hassle free, buy a Honda.

I just finished two weeks in the desert powered by honda 2000 genny's. Very nice ,very quiet and they always started. We were running a 1 KW and 2 650 watt lights with no problems.

Smallest generator?
Find PURE gas to put in em and they will always start for sure!! I add Seafoam to mine as well since generators sit a lot by nature.

Re: Smallest generator?
Hi:
thanks for the tips. I'm looking at the Honda 1000 now. However, I'd just like to up the solar power but, like last week, in the San Juans, we were in thick timber and shade most of the week. Only had about 2 hours were the sun was hitting the panels.
When we camp in winter, the sun is low in the sky and doesn't give maximum recharge.
Thanks,
