Am seeking ideas/opinions on what kind of external lock to use on my E350 rear doors. For me the side doors are not a problem because access to the back is difficult if you cannot breach the rear doors. A quickie search on Amazon and I see this:
http://www.amazon.com/Master-Lock-Magnu ... +door+lock
which I see often on a lot of trade vans. While I'm not protecting electrical/plumbing equipment and supplies I would be protecting all of my camping stuff from easy theft. I'm less concern about anyone trying to steal my vans because they look mostly plain and do not have Aluminess products or winches or cargo boxes or stickers or giant shiny wheels, etc. My questions:
Are there better locks to use than MasterLock? American Lock maybe?
If I get one of these where is best place in the door to mount this? I've seen it mounted low near the bottom of the door and I've seen it up higher .. above the license plate but below the rear window.
I realize that with enough determination that any van door can be breached even with an external lock .. my goal is to simply prevent the easy theft. Currently that would be as simple as smash the rear window, open the door then empty out my stuff which is neatly stored in RubberMaid tubs. If had such a lock in place one could still smash the rear window but could not open the rear door and take my stuff.
Thanks in advance for your ideas and opinions.
