Seat Tracks for Rear Bench(s)

Fellas / Gals,

Just gutted my old school SMB this weekend and am in the research and spend mode.

I'd like to install some kind of low profile top of floor mounted seat tracks about 8' long from the rear of the van forward so that I can move a sofa seat and 2 seater forward and backward with ease.

Anyone got ideas or helpful links?

I have a nice Miller 175 and can modify the seats... just looking for a nice low profile track system.

Thanks,

Taylor

Re: Seat Tracks for Rear Bench(s)

I was planning on installing 13/16" Unistrut for seat tracks in my van. One of the accessories is a slider, using the Unstrut I could also add some large sliding drawers. I was going to build up the floor with high-density foam so the Unstrut would be flush. They also sell some trim strips to fill the unused Unstrut.

Unistrut is good for 5,000 pounds/attachment using the appropriate hardware, which means it will still meat seat-balt anchor requirements.

Unistrut is wonderful stuff. Easy to work with and has lots of accessories.

Re: Seat Tracks for Rear Bench(s)

I think most European vans and campers nowadays have track in the floor to allow for moving of the furniture. I know my sisters VW van had it from the factory, as did her earlier Mercedes van. While that doesn't help you unless you can haunt some junk yards on the other side of the Atlantic, you should be able to get some ideas of how it's done from Westfalia/VW/ Mercedes sites as well as from some of the conversion company sites. It is very cool to see it in action.
