Wow! I struggled through the first five minutes of that horrible video. I'd rather be water boarded than watch that for two hours. Play that at Gitmo - that was positively painful.

Thanks for the link. I'm sure it will be helpful to some, but I have to agree with gcvt on the quality. As soon as the guy walked in and tripped over something I thought, uh-oh, he's got my camera skills. No way I can do this!

It is a bit tough, but good info, and a really sweet build on that van. Definitely not a consumer friendly video.

It might be easier to sit through if you were planning your new build

Re: I saw this walktrhough posted on Youtube

I watched the whole two hours the other weekend after randomly finding in on YouTube. I agree it's much easier to follow if you're already familiar with the systems and options they are describing. The lingo and production quality doesn't make it much of a resource for potential buyers. Some small embarrassments for SMB too, when the buyer complains that the overhead LED's are not controlled with a dimmer switch he had requested months ago (when different technician promised it could be done). The guy giving the tour is caught off guard a bit, and is left with quite a "punch list" of things that need to be resolved.

I had a similar experience on my pick-up day when the manager revealed the fridge had been installed in a different orientation to allow the door to open. I completely understood why the change was needed, but would have appreciated a heads-up during the build process.

Re: I saw this walktrhough posted on Youtube

The problem is everybody wants something different and there is no set standard like when buying a trailer. Crap, a buddy of mine bought a fifth-wheel and that thing has had a host of problems and it's a standard build. I expected issues cause I asked for things they don't do on a regular basis. I'm not talking poor workmanship but I can see when you ask for something they rarely do that it increases the odds of something not coming out quite as you expected. And anybody who thinks that every employee that starts on a job there knows what somebody that been there doing it for 10 years does isn't being realistic either. That is common in trade industries. The main thing is if SMB stands behind their work and fixes the FU's that are bound to happen. For me, yep I've had issues but SMB has always gone beyond what other manufactures have and took care of me to resolve the problem. It's also a reason I always say deal with the places close by to where you live whenever possible or suggest new owners do a really heavy duty shakedown close to where the van was built before heading home a thousand miles away. One of my problems was with the Espar and I kept taking it back thinking there was something wrong... I was not letting it cycle long enough to start. It was a new product for SMB at the time and it fooled all of us. I also bent the PH bars when the back hook caught and SMB fixed it for no charge knowing it was obvious I caused the problem. I can go on and on. $#!t happens but SMB has been extremely fair with me compared to the average company. YMMV
