awning windows upside down

Just saw a new Dynamax Rev with awning windows with a narrow, fixed part on the top. Below were two side by side large panes which flip out to be the awning part, letting in a lot of air. There was no heavy interior heavy frame obscuring the view.

From SMB website photos, it appears that SMB awning windows have a large fixed part on top with only a narrow awning opening part on the bottom. It also appears that they have a heavy interior frame. Is that correct?

Has anyone had SMB install the "upside down" windows with large awnings on the bottom? Any pros and cons to either type? (I've already considered pros and cons of sliders and will probably choose both awnings and sliders.)

Re: awning windows upside down

These are the large awning windows I saw, from kinro. The literature link shows a bit more. Look great from the outside and have large panes which flip out as awning. Don't know if they come in Sprinter sizes.

Just make sure to install the windows the way they are designed, and not deliberately upside down. Window frames typically have weep hols that need to be on the bottom to function.

Paul at SMB TX says they have installed them. The problem is, they don't take up the whole window opening. So I prefer the windows the SMB uses.
