Agonizing Wait Phase 3 Complete! The Finished Product.

Wait 1 of 3 was waiting for the chassis from Ford (viewtopic.php?f=15&t=4559). Wait 2 of 3 was waiting for Sportsmobile to build the camper part (viewtopic.php?f=15&t=5169). Wait 3 of 3 was waiting for Quadvan to do the 4WD conversion. It was truly agonizing, but the waiting is done and now the fun begins.

Before conversion:

After conversion:

Every single piece of this rig is awesome. It is certainly an improvement over my Volkswagen Westafalia. Thanks to all who answered my many questions and I can't wait to get it out there.

El Guapo huh? Didn't I just hear that on the Three Amigos the other night?

Looks great, now get some dirt of the thing.

looks great
not knowing quadvan very well I am curious why you went with their 4wd conversion instead of SMB West? Since it was at Sportsmobile for the camper conversion it seems like it would have been much easier to have 1 place do the work.
I am not picking on you as there are reasons for everything, just looking to learn your thoughts and learn more about another 4wd conversion

Re: Agonizing Wait Phase 3 Complete! The Finished Product.

Don't really know what Steve's reason is, but for me, on our next 4x4 rig will be done by Quadvan as well. I've researched and driven both SMB's and Quadvan. IMO the Quadvan drove so much better on the highway. We felt every bump on the road on our SMB (stock SMB springs) and on washboard roads, I felt like my kidneys were going to explode and the interior was going to fall apart. We do not do any hardcore off roading and we primarily used our rig for snow and trails, so comfort on road is more important than SMB's 4x4 capability.

BTW: Great Looking rig Steve. Hope to see you in the water one day.
