Portable shower shelter
After shopping and shopping and shopping, I finally found a decent pop up shower shelter for the van. The size, color and quick setup/takedown are perfect. I'm about to build some sort of rooftop shower setup (think Roadshower) and this can sit beside or behind the van for a shelter, I just need to pop a hole in the top for the hose or shower head.
My son and I were messing around with iMovie and Garageband and decided to make a little how to video, mostly to show folks an easy way to fold it up, since it has no directions.
Enjoy

Re: Portable shower shelter
I picked up that same shelter while in Utah back in June. I looked up a few videos after reading how difficult it was to collapse back down.
My PETT tent got all jacked up and I couldn't get it to open up, so my son and I were left au-natural while using our PETT. Thankfully we were fairly remote so it wasn't too much of an issue at the time, and later in our trip we were close to a Cabelas so we picked up that shelter.

Re: Portable shower shelter
So Herb, since you've had both do you mind doing a comparison? I also have one of those Bass Pro privy/showers and although they are much more roomy, have a floor, and a number of nice features, IMO it is too large to pack, and takes way too long to set up.
I'm currently using this pop up tent that has the name "Pett".
I was surprised how well it takes mildly heavy winds.
Thanks for the video Eric. I've looked those over and wondered how difficult they were to put away. Definately more trouble to pack mine away.

Re: Portable shower shelter
Would that be "mildly heavy winds" from the inside?

Re: Portable shower shelter
Oh, 2 things I forgot. It's only $37 shipped, and it has a screen zippered window inside as well as a mesh pocket for shower stuff. I looked at lots of really hideous ones and ones with more poles and stakes than a 10 man tent, that's why I went for this one. It's literally instant, and once you master the fold up, thanks to helpful people posting video how-to's , It's just as easy to put back up.

Inside and outside wind test will be preformed and updated at my earliest opportunity.

Re: Portable shower shelter
Be pretty funny to have that pop open in the van.
Good catch though, thanks.
Can I assume it isn't sturdy enough that you could set a shower bag on top of it?

Hmmm. Not sure about that. I think the shelter is sturdy enough, but i don't think the bag would stay without help. I think it would be much easier to hang from a tree or your roof rack down the side of the van or the like. I will give it a try though.

Re: Portable shower shelter
We started out with a similar tent with a built-in floor but now have an Outback Porta Privy (apparently no longer being made) with has a separate floor. The separate floor makes is much easier to let it air-dry after use.
