Need some sturdy stairs for my dog and self

HI,
New owner looking to find a set of stable stairs that will help my older dogs enter through the side doors. I'm about 20 inches off the ground from the running board, then about 9 inches to the inset step.

One of my dogs is a bit skittish so I want something stable that won't move around on him. Maybe something metal with rubber treads? Or something that can fold?

Any ideas? Was thinking to have a friend build something but seems a set of wooden stairs would take up a lot of space.

thanks
Stephanie

When one of our dogs was having medical issues and couldn't jump up, we used a ramp. It was fairly large and heavy, but it was sturdy. I do see there are ramps that fold available too.

We are currently using http://www.campingworld.com/shopping...ep-stool/65819 it is pretty stable and has a large first step. in the dirt and rocks it can get a little unstable but works well..

We also have one that I cant find any more that is stable but has a small first step they seem to jump over.

This is what I used for my 130 lb lab when he had cancer and could not get in and out any longer. It was very stable.

I picked mine up on ebay.

We also have one of these steps that we use on the trailer hitch of our Excursion. Works well if you're only using the rear doors, and provided your hitch isn't being used for anything else.

Re: Need some sturdy stairs for my dog and self

We had the folding one, but it's pretty bulky for camping use.

I also had one of the aluminum folding ones that went in my trailer hitch. I liked it but my lab didn't.

Some dogs are okay with ramps but not steps and vice versa. There are tons out there if you go to the pet supply sites. Try http://www.discountramps.com/pet-products-page.htm; they've got about every ramp and/or steps for every animal from hamsters to elephants. My dog can't travel anymore, but if he did I'd be looking for something that could be put to other uses, always a plus in our vans. Some folks also have room in the back to put in a sliding ramp that slips up under the van body; dunno if yours does that but it's a nice solution.

We use the EZ Foldz step. Very sturdy. In Black. Folds nicely.

Aluminum step stool from camping world. Had grip tape on it. $70 but sturdy. I had a plastic one that cracked on uneven ground.
