Looks a heck of a lot better than it did back when Dave B took pics of it back in November '13:

So they basically just made a fake e-body out of fiberglass? Seems like it would have been a good opportunity for some clever updates or a more functional body.

Yeah, I'm with you. Not sure I completely see the point. It looks no bigger, or different really, than a regular van, so what am I missing?

Will Ford continue production of the E-series cab & chassis along side the Transit? That would be one good reason for it.

I'm guessing it's just a stop gap strategy so they can take advantage of a few extra years on the cutaway chassis after the van/wagon go away. What their long term strategy is, who knows.

They did if they stuck to their plans. The body is wider, the PH is wider, and there is a sub floor drain for a inside shower similar to the Fuso. Most of the stuff is similar to the E series by design. I made a video of it but can't find it.

Re: SMB Ford E-350 Cut-away w/fiberglass body

I think I heard that the cutaway and cab & chassis will be around until 2019. I'm anxious to see this, even with the slight improvements mentioned. The integrated shower pan sounds interesting - a lot more practical than the Rubbermaid tub that accounts for the high-dollar "porta shower" offered now. I also like the idea of a larger bed/sofa in the -50 floorplan but am also hopeful for a wider gaucho offering on say, a -30 plan.
