Fulltiming in a Sportsmobile?

I'd love to hear from or about those who have given up their sticks & bricks homes and moved into the SMB for shorter or longer periods of time....

Re: Fulltiming in a Sportsmobile?

I have been in my SMB for about three years now....started in Maui, now on the mainland....mostly California. I have lived in two mini vans before that on Maui. Presently I have been livin in the mountains in Northern California. Just me solo though---not really room for two full time as far as storage etc. I wouldnt have it any other way right now though!!!

Re: Fulltiming in a Sportsmobile?

We met a couple full timing in an SMB for 7 years. They did have 'storage facility' they visited twice a year to exchange summer gear for winter gear, etc. It can be done. Weather permitting, we spend most of our waking hours outside of the SMB, so the size of the rig may not make much difference, just the mindset.

I'm tempted to get out the "Vendor" stick. If you're ever coming across I-70 you should swing by and I'll provide a conference on how to miss most of Denver by wasting only 10 extra minutes...

Re: Fulltiming in a Sportsmobile?

The longest we (my wife, dog, and I) have spent in the SMB was 5 weeks during a road trip. Although it was only five weeks I/we felt like we could keep on going. Although the interior space can seem a bit small for the long term, the front yard is infinite . Too bad we both have jobs and have to work though. We are up to 75 nights in the SMB in the 16 months that we have owned it.

I feel that after 3 weeks and you've replenished the food supply and done laundry, you can just keep going for as long as you want.

Re: Fulltiming in a Sportsmobile?

I am curently looking into getting one, if I can get financed. I might just have to buy the van from Sportsmoblie and have it insulated and all the plubing and electric run, because of the price and just add things I want as I go. I would have to have a shower and a marine toliet right off the bat though. I work offshore. Ill work 28 days and be off 14. Right now I am paying $595 for rent and I am hardly even there. This seems like the perfect alternative to me and would save me a ton of money. I live in FL and don't have a car. I just keep flying from there and to Louisiana and back. This would be perfect for me! It's just me, soo it couldn't work out any better.
