Transporting a Sportsmobile to Fresno and Back (Denver)

So I'm looking at a round trip to Fresno, with a 30-45 day layover for the van.

I know this has been discussed, but I can't seem to find it: I need to ship the van to Fresno and have them pick it up. Anyone know a good vehicle transport company who can handle these and be trusted with my van?

Haven't used them myself, but I remember someone recommending McNutt Auto Transport. Stosh

You might ask SMB...they must deal with this occasionally.

Re: Transporting a Sportsmobile to Fresno and Back (Denver)

The last time we went through this SMB claimed they don't ship, but have a driver. Since I'm abutting my warranty coverage those couple thousand miles mean something, plus handing over my keys to some kid... *shudder*

McNutt might be a slam dunk, $1050 each way pending more accurate measurements- their max is 10' high, 8' wide and 25' long, but just in calling the 800 number they seem great.

Disclaimer: I've never used this service, but I've heard a handful of recommendations for it. Enter what you want shipped, the origin and destination, and get quotes sent to you.

Nancy at SMB Indiana recommended this company to ship my van from Indiana to the west coast. The van arrived right on time, in perfect condition and much to my surprise it was very clean. The cost was $1500.

Try Western Dist. (The old schoolblue trucks you see on the road)They mainly ship trailered goods but the owner is a car collector and runs a speciality transport as well.
Also a friend ships 2-3 busses a month through Accelerated Logistics. They have a drop off at araphoe just east of I-25.

I use LMN Logistics twice a month from Denver to Jackson never had a problem. Google them Or I do have a hot shot guy I use that will carry only your SMB His number is at the office if you want it pm me and I will send it.
I used McNutt many time's but had to many problems it was always something, loads would be late and when I would call they would say well for a $100 more, etc....

my 2cents

Winter project?

Some of the prices being talked about here don't sound too bad, given what it would cost you in both fuel and time to drive it yourself, however, I'd be a little leary in having major work done and not being able to inspect it before your van leaves the factory. You've probably alreaady considered it, but I'd really consider flying in to pick it up, and then drive home.

Jage,
I was happy with DAS when I bought a Jeep in Arkansas and had it delivered to SoCal.

On time, clean, no problems, fair price (and negotiable as I recall).
