And safecar.gov also listed it as a recall for my 2002 SMB.
Will make a note to check it by VIN number with dealer and get it done.
(edit) Checked it on Ford web site and only listed some CA V10 emission re-cal notice.
Other than calling PO or trusting Ford dealer to check by VIN, any way I can identify the newer cruise deactivate switch?
Maybe you can edit the thread title to reflect the later years?

Re: Ford SMB's pre-2000: reminder about fire hazard
Sorry to hear of the loss of your van . . . and a memento from your parents. How tragic and scary. Now I'm worried about about my 2002 Ford E-250. I'd better look into this.
Update: I checked the Ford website. No recalls on my van . . . theoretically.

Thanks, but that was not my van - just wanted to share. I have a 2002 diesel SMB. I was feeling thankful and safe to be out of recall range, but not as much after these reply posts.
Re: Ford SMB's pre-2000: reminder about fire hazard
Thank you for the link I was waiting for a strange noise all night cause I have no way to move the van aout of the way to get the Impala ot like he did the boat.
No open recalls for my vin. The previous owner was really on top off this stuff. Thank Jim.

Re: Ford SMB's pre-2000: reminder about fire hazard
I called the dealer and after a bit of work he was able to give me the date and dealer that performed the recall. Initially he just told me what the website said which was "that recall is not outstanding". I asked him to dig deeper and got the answer.
(edit) Only recall I had outstanding was a V10 ECM reflash:
ID: 04E07
Title: E-350 VEHICLES BUILT WITH CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS CERTIFICATION AND EQUIPPED WITH 6.8L ENGINES - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE RE-CALIBRATION
(edit) looks like something to do with heated O2 sensor calibration
FreddieJohn, can you please update the thread title to reflect the broader dates? (I think you just need to go edit your original post and it should let you)

Re: Ford SMB's pre-2000: reminder about fire hazard
Had my 95 passenger van burn quite a few years ago. It was under the building at a crowded beach condo where I lived and worked at the time. During memorial day weekend no less- the building was full of people. It had been parked for about an hour. Luckily my sister drove in and started with fire extinguishers, knocked it down some. Then we finished putting it out with the fire hoses from the building. Fire dept arrived after we had put it out. Got the recall notice a week or two later. Ford only paid low blue book for it. If I hadn't gotten it at a police auction I would have been pissed
Re: Ford SMB's 1992 - 2003; reminder about fire hazard!
Wow. That is crazy!! That video blew me away. Scary that a van can spontaneously combust like that. Holy crap.
