FENDER FLARES ON A BUDGET

Hi all,

Fender flares were the latest addition to my van. They were on a long list of what I call my "nickle and dime to death" list. I would love a fresh new set of name brand fender flares, but it wasn't gonna happen any time soon. They were on the list I call "wish" list. I frequent Craigslist often and of course our members classifieds. So, I found and bought a set of wheel to wheel fiberglass fender flares/steps on Craigslist for $40 after a little negotiating. They are so ugly I probably overpaid for them. I cut the step sections off, rounded the ends, spray painted and installed them. That's $40 vs $500.

I thought I would pass this savings tip on to others on a budget.

I think I actually prefer the look of those to Bushwackers.....their smaller size looks just right to me.

That's a great idea, and I'm kicking myself for not thinking of that... I took a set of those same fiberglass boards off my van and sold them on CL (got $90, believe it or not).

What a cool idea! My rig has a fiberglass front fender flare/running board combination that I really dislike, but when I looked into removing them I saw that the fastener holes around the front fender were close enough to the outside to probably show once there was nothing there. So I've just been living with them. This gives me ideas though...

Great score. They look great. I also agree with Brian.

Re: FENDER FLARES ON A BUDGET

I guess the only downside is that they are hard and potentially could crack, vs. the bushwhackers that are a bit more flexible (I assume). But the price is sure right!
