ROCK AND ROLL BED FRAME

Hi all:

Have not been on the forum in quite some time. Here's my question:

I have a 2011 Ford E-250. I am having the interior redone by a local craftsman in the RB-50 style.
It will be a simple design with no sink, stove, heater, etc. BUT, I do want a fold down bed just like the VW Rock n Roll Bed. I have looked all over the internet and found that almost all of these frame mechanisms are from manufacturers located in the UK. Shipping is prohibitive.

Can anyone point me in the rigfht dirtection to buy tyhe complete rock and roll bed frame?

Thanks in advance

jjtwister

Re: ROCK AND ROLL BED FRAME

I'm not familiar with them, so I just put 'VW rock and roll bed' into Google Images. There are a ton of pics, styles and ideas there. I'm sure many of those have a link to where they were made/sold. It may help you narrow down who makes and sells them.

Re: ROCK AND ROLL BED FRAME

I made one from a full size conversion bed that I cut down to the width I wanted. I scored the donor from the junk yard for $30...then spent $400 on the foam and upholstery........

Re: ROCK AND ROLL BED FRAME

I found a fold flat style bed that worked great out of a Chateau conversion van (late 80's-mid 90's) that worked great. I then cut one side of it and had a buddy help me weld it back together so it was the desired 54" width. That way the RB50 layout would still work. I mounted it with 1/2 bolts and the same DOT plates from the bench seat before. You will still need to ad a piece of wood to make it long enough (if your going to sleep longitudinally). Hope this helps.

Re: ROCK AND ROLL BED FRAME

BusDepot sells the hinge kits to build your own. I debated going that way as well.

I believe they are ~100 a set.

I wish I would have known about that before I went on the hunt for the seat I have! Nice work, the benefit of viewing the forum. This is such a great resource.
